skell-e-straps!

I know, it has been forever since I have "blogged".  Didn't have much to blog about, I guess.
This past weekend, Nate, Jane and Emmett and Finley were home, we had such a good time. I worked half of the weekend, but had the 4th off because it was my holiday off.
Jane is busy taking photos of us;  eating sleeping, working, playing, she has really become the photographer!! Courtney is also getting into the art and profession, she and Jane both have Canon cameras now, as well as Kristi, I have the Nikon.
Jane had her camera out and I noticed her camera strap made out of black and pink - and after looking at it, I decided I could make some of them, they are really cute. The one Jane did have was made with a thin connecting strap, she and I decided it was too flimsy and made her nervous  that the clasp would give way and would drop her camera.
So . . . I went upstairs in my little room, found some cloth and the rest is history. Enclosed are a few pictures of the straps I have made. I think I will post them on Lynitas too, let me know if you want one!

Flowers again

The bleeding heart is in full bloom. This is from the original plant from Dad Schelhaas, we have moved it to this home, have taken shoots from it for family to plant in their gardens.  What a pleasant reminder of years past and the promise of years to come

Flowers

That's the assignment this month from Davonne for our advice book. Fran, Davonne and I decided to connect monthly with an assignment for a book on advice, we give each other assignments with instructions on what has to be included on a page and then we are to "create".
I would ask these two often during the summer of last year to explain the directions/instructions and they would absolutely roll their eyes and look at me like I had lost all sense, they forgot that I was the  person with the least creative skill and had absolutely no idea what they were talking about!!
For instance;  Davonne is the queen of creativity and no matter what she does, it is simply an inspired work. Fran has a unique sense  of style and ideas, and always keeps us hopping with a new adventure. Then there is me - I am the nurse, the one who sees most everything white and black. I must say however that I have been dipping into the gray area of my life more, and that's where my sewing and computer fun enters the picture.
This month's assignment has left me feeling a little lost, nothing else but flowers. I think I have an idea of how to proceed, and I better get going because it will take a few attempts  before I make one page three times of the exact replica for each of us ( I know , it is terribly confusing!) While I was researching this topic of flowers(?) I found this cute picture of a fabric flower and thought I should try it.  So, last night while  making a birthday card for a friend at work I thought I would make her a little something - a flower. Yes Davonne, once again this cloth came from you, it is a scrap of a scrap. I thought it was cute and attached it to her card, she loved it (however she didn't wear it).  Now I wonder how I can incorporate this flower into my flower assignment for my 3 - 5 X 7 page. . . . I am sure the only ones who will understand this whole composition are the two mentioned above:)

Our new greenhouse!!! Paul and Rod built this in a long day. Our other greenhouse had it's plastic flapping in the wind, and we were just dismayed over buying more plastic at an exorbitant price, so Paul tore it all down and Rod designed this house!! The guys worked until late Saturday night, but what a great masterpiece. Tomato, pepper, some flower plants are not in our basement but in this house. Thanks Rod for being such a good friend and helping us. Now Paul has to go to Rod's place and help him this weekend, hopefully this will go some quicker than last time!

Hobo Purse

WEll, as you can see, I have been making purses again! The black  and gold purse is the last one I made, I think I have finally figured it all out. The very first hobo purse made hung down way below my knees, the instructions were backwards. The purple purse was the second attempt, I took it to Texas, had lots of compliments, but it was horribly big and I couldn't find a thing in it. The cloth was an old quilt I bought some time ago. This last purse is fun, the cloth came from my friend Davonne. I think I will use it and see if I like this size.

Spring?

Today we had 80 mile an hour winds I think, probably more like 30 miles an hour. However, the good thing is that it was warm and the sun shone and the sky was blue all in one day. This is my day off after my weekend of work, seems like I have been working weekends forever and for the most part, I don't mind the weekend work because it is quieter and the big kahunas aren't there to pretend like they know more than us who are working. I do think Paul does have some times when he is sick of me being gone when he is home, at least I would like to think he does. I have a faithful friend follower now, so that is a good thing, anyone else out there who would like to follow this unlikely blogger?

My newest adventure, I don't know if I want to sell these, what do you think?

Kids Again

And of course the other four grandchildren; the boys. They have boundless energy , are all so different and unique and are all Schelhaases! For all those grandmothers out there, there is so much room in our hearts for our children's children, hard to explain. If you can't identify them- Isaiah (Sam and Kris) Brody (Ty and Court) Emmett (Nate and Jane) and Easton on Emmett's lap (Sam and Kris)Easton and Ryleigh are the same age, Easton born less than a week earlier than Ryleigh.

Kids

Today I was looking at photos taken by Courtney with the help of her other Sisters in law of their children and I wanted to share them with all of you - whoever you are. The girls are wearing their Foo Foos that I made them, Adi on the right didn't want to wear it, and was bribed, cajoled and pleaded with and then Sam and Kris just nicely told her she had to wear it, so she isn't smiling but she is still so cute and the other two darlings are smiling, so it is my favorite!! Ryleigh performing her trick of SO BIG, how cute is that?
Ryleigh, Ty and Court's daughter in the middle is really having a great time, and Finley, on the left - Nate and Jane's daughter - has a mom who is a photographer, so she is used to posing for pictures.
